Spontaneous Sports and Outdoor Activities

Finspång offers great opportunities for physical activity outside of organized sports clubs. Residents and visitors are welcome to use outdoor gyms, balance courses, the skate and kickbike park, and the disc golf course. There is also a dog park for training, and nature trails for learning more about local wildlife and ecosystems.

Spontaneous sports include exercise and recreation that do not require club membership. In Finspång, outdoor gyms, disc golf, skateboarding, kickbiking, and children’s balance trails (kottebanor) are all freely available. A dog park is also open for public use. All activities are free of charge and open to everyone.

Finspång has an 18-hole disc golf course where people of all ages are welcome to play for free.

The course starts near the campground in the Grosvad area and is free to use. It stretches nearly four kilometers and includes 18 holes with varying levels of difficulty. You can bring your own disc or rent one for 30 SEK each at the Medley reception inside Arena Grosvad.

The disc golf course was completed in 2020 following a citizen proposal submitted to Finspång Municipality.

Finspång Disc Golf Club

The construction of the course also led to the founding of the Finspång Disc Golf Club. The club is responsible for maintaining and developing the course. You can follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates and information.

What is disc golf?

Disc golf (also called frisbee golf) is a sport where players throw a disc toward a target. The objective is to complete the course using as few throws as possible. A hole is completed when the disc lands in a disc golf basket, also known as a chain hole.

Finspång’s dog park offers a fenced area where dog owners can train their dogs, let them run freely, and play with other dogs.

The dog park is beautifully located in an oak grove near the intersection of Östermalmsvägen and Grosvadsvägen, close to the Arena Grosvad area. It was completed in 2020 as the result of a citizen proposal submitted to Finspång Municipality.

Dog owners are welcome to use the park if they’re looking for a safe, enclosed space where their dogs can exercise and socialize off-leash.

To make sure everyone has a pleasant experience, please read and follow the park rules posted at the entrance. A bench and dog waste bin are located just outside the park.

Finspång’s skate and kickbike park is located just below Arena Grosvad in a green area. It welcomes riders of all ages and is free to use.

The park was completed in 2020 following a citizen proposal submitted to Finspång Municipality. It is spacious and well designed, allowing many people to ride at the same time. To reduce the risk of accidents, the park is divided into two sections – one for skateboarding and one for kickbikes.

You are welcome to ride:

  • Skateboards
  • Kickbikes
  • Inline skates
  • BMX bikes

To keep the park safe and enjoyable for everyone, please follow the rules below.

In Finspång Municipality, you can work out at any of our three outdoor gyms whenever it suits you. Children can develop their motor skills in a playful way on our forest-themed obstacle courses. Both the gyms and courses are free to use.

Outdoor gyms

There are three outdoor gyms in the municipality. These gyms are built from durable wooden materials and feature various workout stations designed to train the whole body. Each station includes clear instructions on how to use it.

You can exercise outdoors while enjoying fresh air — no need to book a time and no cost to use the equipment.

Locations:

  • Arena Grosvad, next to the jogging trails
  • Sonstorp
  • Torstorps Motionscentral

Please note: You exercise at your own risk and responsibility.

A “kottebana” is a nature-inspired obstacle course for children. The design encourages kids to climb, jump and balance through a series of playful challenges. Some obstacles are easier, while others are more advanced — helping kids develop coordination and confidence.

No opening hours and no fees — just come and play.

Locations:

  • Arena Grosvad, next to the jogging trails
  • Sonstorp
  • Torstorps Motionscentral

Please note: Children must be supervised by a parent or accompanying adult.
